THE PROCESS.
APPLICATION
We submit your permit application to the City of Jacksonville Building Division with all required documentation, plans, and scope of work.
REVIEW
The city reviews plans for code compliance. Residential permits typically take 5-10 business days. Complex projects may require plan review (2-4 weeks).
APPROVAL & POSTING
Once approved, the permit is posted at the jobsite. This is legally required and visible to inspectors.
INSPECTIONS
Inspections happen at key milestones: rough-in (plumbing, electrical, framing) and final. We schedule all inspections and ensure everything passes.
FINAL SIGN-OFF
The city inspector signs off on the completed work. This is your proof that everything was done to code — critical for insurance and resale.
PERMIT COSTS.
Costs based on City of Jacksonville 2026 fee schedule. Actual fees may vary based on project valuation.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU SKIP PERMITS
- Fines from the City of Jacksonville (up to $500/day for ongoing violations)
- Required to tear out and redo unpermitted work
- Home insurance may deny claims on unpermitted work
- Title issues at resale — buyers and lenders flag unpermitted improvements
- Safety risks from uninspected electrical, plumbing, and structural work
WE HANDLE IT ALL.
